Supporting Emotional Health and Well-being
Therapy for women and families in Knoxville
Lora Foxwell, AMFT
Hi, I’m Lora.
I'm so glad you're here.
Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable. My hope is that as you read a little about me, you'll get a sense of not only my background, but also the kind of space I strive to create for every person that engages in therapy with me.
I work primarily with women and their children, providing both individual therapy for women and girls, as well as family therapy.
You might be here because...
You're carrying experiences that still affect the way you relate to yourself or others.
You're navigating a difficult transition and aren't sure what comes next.
You're exhausted from trying to hold everything together.
You're struggling in an important relationship.
You're parenting while carrying your own history.
You understand what's happening intellectually but still feel stuck emotionally.
You want to understand the patterns that keep showing up in your life.
My approach is collaborative, trauma informed, and grounded in the belief that people make sense in the context of their stories. I believe people carry immense resiliency and actively look for that together with clients. I also believe emotional healing isn't simply about gaining understanding or trying harder. Our relationships, life experiences, nervous systems, and the environments from which we come all shape how we move through the world. The ways we think, feel, respond, and relate to others often developed for good reasons. Sometimes those patterns protected us. Sometimes they helped us survive. And sometimes, those very strategies that once served us become the barriers that keep us from experiencing the life and relationships we long for. I believe healing begins with curiosity, compassion, and safety.
As an AMFT, I practice under the supervision of a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Whatever you’re navigating, I hope you'll find a place here where you feel safe, seen, and supported.
